If I'd only been there

when you were 18

or 25 or 12 or 45.

I get you now,

slightly jaded,

older, with hair graying

at the temples,

and gone on top.

I wish we'd spent

our lives together.

But, then we'd

take each other

for granted, no doubt.

I don't want that.

I never want that.
