Lost and Found

Lost and Found

Lost once,
years ago.
I thought,
never to be found again.

It grew 3 sizes that day.
My heart.
After kisses,
after more than that.

On the Beach

On the Beach

My favorite boots
of all time,
zip-up black
leather booties
with snakeskin
down the front.

I wore them
on the beach,
inundated with
salt water.

Never the same after that.
Shoes either.

Super Star

Super Star

In stiletto heels
I sing out
to the balcony seats.

In a long sequined dress
a chanteuse
serenades.

Only a dream.
Just a dream.

One Way of Looking at the World

One Way of Looking at the World

My way,
or the highway.

I try to see your point of view,
but it's like wearing someone else's glasses.

I can't see straight.

Guessing Games

Guessing Games

What are we
doing here?

Where are we heading?

Let's just enjoy the moment.

But questions keep nagging
at me.  Maybe you too?

Right now, you sitting
on my bedroom floor,
plotting for the Democrats.

Me writing poems.

What will happen?

It's anybody's guess.

Location, Location, Location

Location, Location, Location

Boise's cool now.

Seattle's uncool.
Traffic sucks.

Portland's always been cool.
Homeless add atmosphere and local
flavor like raisins in an oatmeal muffin.

New York and L.A. have lost
their cachet.

Atlanta and San Antonio
are on the rise.

Better live in the cool part
of town, the cool city.

Even if you have to sell your condo
and rent an apartment.
