Prep Work

I do some of my finest

work in the bathroom.

Cutting down the forest,

shaving.  Washing my hair,

conditioning it, coloring it.

Anointing myself with deodorant

and cheap perfume.

Secretly glad there's no full-length

mirror when I get out of the shower.

Dressing, or half dressing, no room

for jeans or nylons in that small chamber.

Preparation.  The final execution

comes later.  (makeup, glasses, jewelry)

For what?  Another day.

One more day.
