Creshen Challenge #12: Coffee

Challenge #12:  (2 week challenge) Draw a coffeepot.  (from the EveryDayMatters prompts) You could also take a photo of a coffeepot, do digital art of a coffeepot, write a poem or do another creative practice involving a coffeepot.  Please post your results by December 29th.

Bedtime Story

Half man, half beast

He sits at the foot of my bed

And watches me sleep

Half beast, half woman

I look deep within his blue eyes

Lust awakens, once asleep

Halloween Crafts

Challenge #9:  (3 week challenge):  Make something for Halloween, Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) or Samhain.  You can write, sew, photograph, build, knit, draw… doesn’t matter!

I am really in the Halloween spirit this year.  I helped with a Halloween party, made Halloween cards, plus did some coloring and made a Halloween Star (go figure!).

The lines are from a defective toner cartridge in my printer.

Mind Map of Possibilities

Challenge #8:  (2 week challenge):  Create a Mind Map of Possibilities for your life! 

I didn't take this challenge too seriously, as you can tell.

 

 

Fabric-covered Box (in process)

Challenge #7 (Use a new technique, subject or genre.)

My friend, Michelle, talked me into covering a box with fabric using glue.  She used Elmer's on hers.  I started with spray glue, but changed to Mod Podge (gloss) once I realized the point was to have a shiny fabric box.  I can't say I think this is a good use of fabric or Mod Podge, but it is something new!

We cut a foam chair cushion in two and are padding the bottom of the boxes, also covered with fabric.  When the inside is done, we will start decorating it with ribbon and glue a mirror on the inside lid.  Or at least that's the plan!  OK, shoot me.  This is a silly project, but maybe it will turn out alright.  Here are some in process shots:

Challenge #6: 2014 Year of the Wood Horse

"Summer Night"

I wrote this poem in response to this painting by Winslow Homer, part of Challenge #5 on Create, Share, Encourage, a G+ community.

Summer Night

My bare feet touch the sandy boardwalk.

You are still wearing your shoes.

We dance, you insist on leading,

hand at my waist.

I hold on to your shoulder, the better dancer,

more experienced, at this.

The other women look out to sea,

as the lights bounce off the waves.

We can hear the music from the band,

far out of frame, off the canvas,

unpainted, but not unheard.

This summer night,

will it ever end?

I let you go, finally.

You are not my boyfriend.

I am not your husband.

Dance alone, darling one.

Dance alone now.

"A little grace."

Challenge #4:  "A little grace."

[Challenge #4...... use four different media in one composition....which tells a story..... include the journaled story or not as you wish......Any takers?  (2 week challenge) ]

I used markers, paper, a canvas board and a glue stick.  It was really hard sticking to just four media.  To me it seems a little plain, but that suits the poem I guess... thanks for the challenge +Grace Solman !

Here's the poem, which is part of the piece.

A little grace.

Iron bars

are not needed

to make

a prison.

Your mind

can build

the strongest

walls.

Before your eyes

a golden key

dangles.

Take it!

While you still can.

Grasp

liberation

with both hands.

 

"Tin Man"

Here's what I did for Challenge #3:  the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz on Create, Share, Encourage, a Google+ group:

It's a mixed-media piece.  Art supplies used:  canvas board, acrylic paint, stencil used, silver glitter and stars, mod podge-gloss, red and silver sculpey 3 clay, paper and Sharpie black fine tip pen, and chain from my jewelry supplies.  Glue gun  used to stick it all together.
