"Delightful"

Delightful

What delights me?

Fashion.  First thought.

Not that you could tell.
By my wardrobe of shorts
and t-shirts.

Earrings, I always wear earrings.

Fashion, makeup, scents, shoes
and bags.

How could I forget handbags?!!

I spent ½ an hour in Penneys,
fruitlessly, recently.
Didn’t find anything to love
in my price range.

Maybe I’m silly, a little frothy,
but then again…

What delights you?

"Humpty Dumpty"

Humpty Dumpty

My heart breaks open
Like an egg
Fallen from a great height.

What once was an impervious shield
Crumbles
Because of gravity,
The coldness of human hearts,
All of the above.

I ooze onto the pavement,
Unable to do anything
To help myself or others.
The blood mixed into the yolk
And clear whites.

I’ll try to paint you a picture.

Like a dream, and my bed,
Dropping down an elevator shaft,
I wake myself up before impact.

(Behind the façade,
Cracks are everywhere.)

I would hug you tight,
Holding on for dear life,
If I didn’t think you’d break
Too.

Crochet Throw--Finished!

Gift for 2 little girls.  Took forever!  Now I need ideas for something to make for a little boy in my life.  Just not an afghan or throw!

"Lunch"

Lunch

We sit across the table
not really sure of each other.
It’s hard to make friends
after the 2nd grade.

We’ve both been burned,
recently too.
So the plans we make
aren’t even tentative.
Just, we’ll meet again, soon.

McDonald’s seems an odd place
to talk about churches that aren’t really churches,
relatives that have us in a quandary,
the price of gas.

Where else can you get a burger for a buck?
In this small town, nowhere else.

So I drink my sugar Coke, a no-no.
And she dips into her sweet n’sour sauce.

She dominates the conversation.
I don’t mind.  It’s so nice to be asked to lunch,
I don’t even care.

Then I go home and take a nap.
This social butterfly is tired.

"Under the Dome"

This is a silly poem about a silly show I don't even watch.

Under the Dome

It’s closing in
It’s crushing us
What have we done
to deserve this fate?

The dome itself
just wants to be loved
wants a home
under the dome.

Purple egg
flashes bright
stars flash brilliantly
what a sight!

Into the cave
and out again.
They came back
to get their friends.

The plot has twists
the plot has turns
Where will they end up?
Will they ever get out?

In righteous anger
at the dome
whose only sin
to be alone.
