DIY Planner: 1st Full Week in April

I went with a "Dark Egg" on the left, and stenciled Chinese characters for Love and Joy on the right.

My favorite is this Joy stenciled with marker and watercolor.

DIY Planner: 2nd Week of February

This week I used (new for me) foam cut-outs of hearts and clear glitter.  Like last week I'm taking a simpler approach to my art journaling.  As long as I get it done, that's good enough for me.

My favorite day:

The clear glitter above the trees looks like snow.  Fun!

DIY Planner: 1st Week of February

It's hard to be creative all the time, so I decided to do simpler shapes and designs this past week.  It's continuing on to this week's art jounaling.  I'm still doing these nightly.  If I do this again I'll get a bigger XL Pad to do my planner in.

My favorite day:

I just love all the green!

The one with the Zs says, "Orange you sleepy?"  :)

DIY Planner: 3rd Week of January

I didn't feel much like drawing this week, so stuck with simple shapes and patterns.  On Sunday I broke out the acrylics and gesso and tried that.  Acrylics are not transparent like watercolors, so I don't know how often I'll use them.

I made glitter glue for the first time, just added green glitter to my quick dry glue and painted it on Tuesday's waves:

My two favorite days are the conch shell (used a stencil) and the red star with the blue background on Friday.

I experimented with making glitter glue (successful!) and glitter paint (unsuccessful) and glitter matte medium (somewhat successful).  You can see my results here, the blue is glitter glue, the white is green glitter mixed with white paint (outline of March and April) and the glitter matte medium hardly shows on the months on the right (March, April):

I've since painted the outline of March and April in light green glitter paint I bought at Wal-Mart during a previous outing.

Here are my two favorite days, couldn't decide which I liked best:

DIY Planner: 4th Week of December 2014

There is no theme for this week, although I did use a lot of green and contrasting colors.

Thursday's is red Christmas lettering (which doesn't show in this picture) on a green background.  It looks like a Christmas cloud that's raining glitter, which is somehow apt for the holiday.

Monday's hot air balloon interior, Tuesday's mosque and Friday's tree frog are all drawn from a National Geographic book called "Color," a book of photographs.  The other days are pretty random.

While before I was doing these in the morning, because it's a working planner, I started doing them at night after I checked off a few tasks.  It's fun just doing one square a day.  I will be using the National Geographic book in the future for things to draw.

Thanks for looking!

DIY Planner: 3rd Week of December 2014

This time I added some glitter with matte medium.  I'd like some gloss medium.  I'm not using Mod-podge because the pages will stick together (or so I've heard).

There is a theme to this particular week, Winter Solstice and Yule. I did all these on the day it says.

My favorite was the Yule Log, it felt like my to-do list was on fire!

DIY Planner: 2nd Week December 2014

Here is the second week of decorating my planner.  For this week I had a Christmas theme.  No, there won't always be a theme.  :)  I discovered that my drawings from pictures on the computer turned out better than stylized symbols.  I also remembered I had stencils, so used them for a couple days.

I established some ground rules (made to be broken!), do your art for the current day, you can go back and embellish the same day, and keep within the allotted square.  Whew!  Maybe next year I'll get a bigger XL pad, a smaller one would work too, with the same restrictions.

Here is my favorite day this week:

You can't see it very well, but I used gold and silver ink as washes on some of the days, also metallic sharpies.  I don't know what I'll do with this next week.  Cool beans!

DIY Planner: 1st Week December 2014

So, I'm using my planner and I'm also doing arty stuff in it.  I don't really know what I'm doing.  I'm just having fun!  This is the spread for the first week:

My favorite turned out to be Sunday, with lots of leaves:

Here are the art supplies I'm using.  Opaque watercolors and waterbrush (new!):

Markers and gel pens:

And these are the inks, some metallic, that I'm using this week:

DIY Weekly Planner

I wanted a planner big enough to do my Bullet Journal in and also draw/doodle in and add stickers and cut-outs from magazines.  The big planners are about $20, so I decided to make my own!  I used a 60 page XL notebook 7" x 10".  I included December 2014 so I can start using it next week.  It was time consuming to set up, but I'm really happy with it.  I even made my own little month tabs and the cover.  I included envelopes as pockets on the inside covers.  Here are the pictures of my planner:
