"Sensory Information"

Sensory Information

Like an elephant sitting on my shoulders,
the dead weight of it.

Like a squished loaf of bread,
my stomach.

A headache takes up residence in my brain,
obscuring vision, dimming rational thought.

I feel like crap today.

Crap-o-la.

"October, Almost"

October, Almost

Not rain,
it’s misting.

Falling in drops,
heralding the coming of Autumn
here on the coast.

I welcome the change.
Sunny days can’t last forever.

Rescue 16 U: Oracle Card: Week of Sept.29-Oct.5, 2014

From the Enchanted Map Oracle Cards Guidebook by Colette Baron-Reid:

"You are always safe and secure, and free to be yourself!"

Upright

"Asking for help isn't easy for many successful people.  However, that's what you need to do now as you expand your life.  If you find yourself troubled, you can expect help with whatever issue is at hand now.  You need only to ask, and assistance will come your way.

The most important support you can expect is from Spirit.  Get into aright relationship with the Divine and you'll see that many conditions line up as if by magic to provide you with all the help you need.  Ask and you will receive.  There is no need to fear.  Safety is a place within."

I've been looking for some guidance lately.  I'll be sharing the Oracle Card for the week on Sunday nights, for awhile at least.  I won't be interpreting the messages I get.  I'll leave the personal interpretation up to you.  Share what comes up, if you like.  :)

"Fairy Princess"

Fairy Princess

I’ll wear my long, blue, magical dress,
do my makeup,
fix my hair,
don my tiara,
pull on my wings,
wave my wand.

Fae to the core.
For Halloween, a Fairy Princess.

"Holding On"

Holding On

I can feel the ribs beneath her skin,
her heart beating,
her loud purr.

I whisper,
“Don’t go.  Don’t go.”

But pets leave.
Friends leave.

There’s not a damn thing
you can do about it.

“Don’t go.  Don’t go.”

Fabric-covered Box (in process)

Challenge #7 (Use a new technique, subject or genre.)

My friend, Michelle, talked me into covering a box with fabric using glue.  She used Elmer's on hers.  I started with spray glue, but changed to Mod Podge (gloss) once I realized the point was to have a shiny fabric box.  I can't say I think this is a good use of fabric or Mod Podge, but it is something new!

We cut a foam chair cushion in two and are padding the bottom of the boxes, also covered with fabric.  When the inside is done, we will start decorating it with ribbon and glue a mirror on the inside lid.  Or at least that's the plan!  OK, shoot me.  This is a silly project, but maybe it will turn out alright.  Here are some in process shots:

"Green Goddess"

Green Goddess

Tara.

Tibetan goddess of peace and compassion,
bringing long life and peace.
That’s her white side.

She rises from the mountains
on a bed of growing leaves.
She blooms, like the blossoms
surrounding her.

Her green side draws me in.
Determined and fierce,
overcoming obstacles.

Wrapped in silk, crowned in gold.
She saves people from spiritual dangers.

I color in hot pink flowers
and green skin.  In my way I pray
to Tara.

In my way.

"Invitation"

Invitation

Are you a vampire?
Draining me.

That’s what I thought once,
now I’m not so sure.

When I’m near you,
my heart opens.

Your skin is warm
your eyes are blue.

Neither of us pale,
hints of summer tan.

No sharp fangs,
reflection shows.

When we kiss goodbye
my lips graze your neck.
